International Women's Day 2018

It’s International Women’s Day where we recognise and celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women both around the world and across our business.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fiona McIntosh, a Mechanical Fitter within our Maintenance business, who shares with us her career journey with Monadelphous.

Fiona began her career with Monadelphous as a Peggy and later applied for a Mature Age Apprenticeship at the age of 49.
“I will forever be grateful to Monadelphous for giving me the opportunity to fulfil my love for both the tools and the metal trades space,” Fiona said.

“Working in a male dominated environment in a non-traditional role certainly has it challenges, but I have always felt supported, encouraged and respected”.

When asked if she had any advice for women looking to pursue a career in the resources industry, Fiona said it was important to “do something that you genuinely love and are passionate about”.

“Have confidence, believe in yourself and be open to opportunities. This industry offers so many possibilities to develop yourself, both personally and professionally, which should be grasped with both hands”.
