For many years, Monadelphous has delivered some of the largest and most challenging projects for the iron ore industry. We have built strong relationships with BHP Billiton Iron Ore and Rio Tinto Iron Ore, resulting in significant repeat business.
Our Maintenance and Industrial Service division’s (M&IS) first involvement with Rio Tinto was in 2004 with a contract at Tom Price in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. This evolved to include structural integrity, maintenance and capital works projects for its Pilbara Iron Coastal and Inland operations.
In 1996, our Engineering and Construction division (EC) ventured into the iron ore market with BHP Billiton on the Yandi II project, in the Pilbara region, to construct the crushing and screening plant, a contract worth $3 million.
In 2008, Monadelphous secured part of the structural, mechanical and piping works for BHP Billiton’s Rapid Growth Project 4 at Newman Hub iron ore processing facility, in the Pilbara region. This contract was valued at approximately $290 million and is the largest iron ore project we have delivered so far.
