The Dampier Port Upgrade Phase A project involved the installation of a new twin cell Car Dumper (CD3), along with the installation of 22 stockyard conveyors and associated transfer stations, to increase the port capacity from 74Mtpa to 95Mtpa.
Scope of Work
Monadelphous was awarded the contract for construction of the car dumper facility and associated ore conveying systems. The vertical construction package comprised drafting, fabrication, surface treatment, supply, installation and commissioning of structural, mechanical, piping and electrical works.
The scope of work entailed the transportation, erection, installation, surface treatment, non-destructive testing and touch-up of all pipeworks and structural steelworks.
Monadelphous also conducted the installation, erection, bolting and welding of all mechanical equipment, belts and hydraulics.
Highlights & Achievements
- Successful fabrication of over 6,000 tonnes of steel was completed over a 13-month period in an environment of unprecedented demand for materials, labour and support services
- A highly skilled workforce, peaking at 250, was employed on the project
- All works including shutdowns were successfully completed without lost time injuries or delays
