Lihir Island is located approximately 700 kilometres north-east of the PNG capital of Port Moresby in the New Ireland Province. The mine is approximately 50 metres above sea level. The MOPU project duplicates and upgrades the majority of the existing process plant and associated ancillary facilities.

Scope of Work
Entailed the site wide coordination of electrical and instrumentation (E&I) construction activities, including the interim power station, primary crushers, conveyors, ore stockpile, oxygen plant, autoclave, pebble crusher, ore reclaim, grinding and classification, steam plant, seawater pumps and other related facilities to increase the overall production capacity of the mine processing plant.
The works included:
- Mobilisation to site of personnel, plant, facilities and equipment
- Temporary works
- Supply and installation of electrical, instrumentation and communication services including testing, commissioning and instrument calibration.
