Project description
Shell’s Prelude floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facility, is now fully operational and shipped its first LNG shipment in June 2019. The Prelude FLNG facility is the first deployment of Shell’s FLNG technology, which extracts, liquefies and stores gas at sea, before it is exported to customers around the globe.
In 2024, at the expiry of the Monadelphous' existing contract with Shell, it was extended for a further seven years. Monadelphous will continue providing onshore project management and planning services at Shell’s head office in Perth, Western Australia and offshore maintenance services at Prelude FLNG, located in the Browse Basin.
Scope of work
Monadelphous has been engaged to deliver operational, campaign and shutdown maintenance services and brownfield projects implementation associated with the Shell Prelude FLNG facility. In July 2024, a new contract was secured which facilitates the continuation of the scope of services delivered under the expiring contract.
Highlights & achievements
- Jun 11, 2019 – first shipment of LNG sailed from Shell Australia’s Prelude FLNG facility
- Monadelphous onshore project management, engineering and planning teams are actively supporting maintenance, campaign and shutdown/turnaround execution
- Monadelphous offshore leadership, supervision and maintenance teams are executing the above scopes on the Prelude FLNG facility
- July 2024, Shell secured Monadelphous for a further 7 years.
