Project Description
The West Angelas Petroleum (Gas) Pipeline (WAPPL) is part of the overall Rio Tinto Iron Ore power system upgrade (PSU330) project that involves the development of new power generation and transmission infrastructure throughout the Pilbara Region of Western Australia.
Scope of Work
Monadelphous and its joint venture partner OSD Limited was awarded the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract for the natural gas pipeline and associated facilities.
The scope consists of the detailed design, approvals, route selection, procurement and construction of the 85km, 16” pipeline from the Goldfields Gas Pipeline to the new power station site within the West Angelas mine. The pipeline traverses difficult terrain with significant hard rock segments.
The design, fabrication and construction of facilities include an inlet station, mainline valve, and delivery station. Other works include the permanent cathodic protection, SCADA and commissioning.
