The Western Turner Syncline (WTS) project connected the Rio Tinto S10 pit to the existing Tom Price Process Plant, increasing the iron ore capacity from 22 Mtpa of high-grade saleable ore to 25 Mtpa and ultimately then to 32 Mtpa.
Scope of Work
The scope awarded to Monadelphous consisted of a Primary Crusher, 9 Conveyors, Surge Bin, Shuttle and Apron Feeders delivering ore to the existing high/low-grade stockpiles at Tom Price Mine located approx. 26km from the new Primary Crusher.
The installation of a 33kV high voltage power line from Tom Price Substation to the Primary Crusher Switchroom was awarded to Monadelphous and the SMPE&I Contract, 3 months after the initial award date.
The scope comprised of the supply and procurement of over 8,000T of steel-work, plate-work, grating and handrail and installation of all structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation (SMPE&I) works. This also included installation of 42,768 meters of conveyor belt including 107 splices.
Monadelphous provided supervision and labour, plant and equipment, crane hire, commissioning support, belt installation and splicing and hydraulic piping installation.
